Uttarakhand Union Environment Ministry Approves Lakhwar Electricity Project – Daily Current Affairs
The Lakhwar electricity project on the Yamuna River was approved by the Union Environment Ministry, according to a press release by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). Six states will also get irrigation and pure drinking water from this initiative, in addition to generating electricity. Its development will provide additional water with 330 metric cusec meters. Uttarakhand will get 572.54 million units of electricity per year because of this initiative. This would also improve the supply of water in the Yamuna.
