The Western Railway has introduced a PET bottle crushing machine in Mumbai Rajdhani Express for the first time. The Indian Railways has introduced this scheme under “Swachh Bharat and Go Green Missions”. The main objective of this mission is to ban single-use plastic throughout India. The installation of the scheme helps to reduce carbon use by recycling the plastic. This helps to avoid the clutter that forms in the depot from bottle waste. The PET crusher machine allows bottles from 200ml to 2.5 liters capacity and has a storage capacity of up to 1500 bottles. This PET machine can crush up to 3000 bottles per day. Therefore, The Khadi and Village Industries Commission announced its support to provide 35,000 electric pottery wheels for recycling purposes.
