New Chief Election Commissioner: Latest In Current Affairs
On April 12, Sushil Chandra was appointed as Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). Sunil Arora, the current Chief Commissioner, resigned on April 12 and was replaced by Sushil Chandra. The Union Judiciary has made a decision on Sushil Chandra’s appointment as chief election commissioner. Sushil Chandra took over as Election Commissioner on February 14, 2019, just before the Lok Sabha elections. His term as Chief Election Commissioner will end on May 14, 2022. Assembly elections will be held in Goa, Punjab, Manipur, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh under his leadership. Chandra was the chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes before joining the Election Commission.

Pakistani HR Activist Rehman Passed Away: Free Current Affairs Of Today
IA Rehman, a leading Pakistani human rights activist and recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award, died on April 12th, 2021 in Lahore. He spoke out on behalf of Pakistan’s Hindu and Christian minorities and campaigned to get the constitution’s strict anti-blasphemy laws abolished. Special attempts have been made to put India and Pakistan closer together by Rehman. Rehman was born in the undivided Indian state of Haryana in 1930. Besides, Rehman was a founding member of the Pakistan-India People’s Forum for Peace and Democracy and served as a journalist for various magazines for 65 years. However, Rehman has spent two decades as the Director of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP).
