Justice RF Nariman Retired: Important Current Affairs
On August 12, Justice RF Nariman, who rose to prominence as a Supreme Court justice and delivered a number of landmark decisions, announced his retirement. In 2014, Nariman, the Solicitor General, was appointed immediately to the Supreme Court as a judge. For the past seven years, he has served as a Supreme Court judge, hearing and deciding over 13,500 cases. Several important decisions have been made, including the recognition of personal privacy as a fundamental right and the admission of women of all ages to the Sabarimala temple. He also ruled that consenting to gay intercourse is not unlawful, that triple divorce is no longer legal, and that police stations and national investigating agencies should install CCTV cameras to prevent custodial deaths.

With Nariman‘s resignation, Justice L Nageswara Rao, who is next in line on the seniority list, will join the collegium. Jallianwala Bagh Memorial Park: Latest In Current Affairs
The Amritsar Jallianwala Bagh Centenary Memorial Park was unveiled by Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. This memorial was built in honor of all those who died in the April 13, 1919 massacre.
