Aadhaar, Voter Cards to Sex Workers: Today GK Affairs
On December 14, 2021, the Supreme Court decided that all citizens, regardless of vocation, had basic rights, and ordered the federal government to begin the process of providing voter ID, Aadhaar, and ration cards to sex workers. The government must also continue to offer dry food to sex workers, according to the Supreme Court. After validating information submitted by community-based organizations, the bench instructed that authorities might seek assistance from the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) and state AIDS control societies in compiling a list of sex workers. It also requested that a progress report on the issuance of ration cards, voter ID cards, and Aadhaar cards be provided within four weeks of the directive’s date.

Ladakh gained its first FM radio station on December 14, 2021, in the capital city of Leh. Umang Narula, Advisor of Ladakh, opened the first-ever Top FM radio station in Leh. Leh and Kargil will broadcast on 91.1 FM. It will have a radius of 50 kilometers in the air. FM broadcasting began in India in 1977. It was designed in 1933 by American engineer Edwin Armstrong. On December 16, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will unveil a GIS-based automated Water Supply Module that will be used to provide water connections in Cantonment locations across the country in honor of Defence Estates Day. This module, which is based on the most up-to-date technology in Geographic Information System Mapping, will be implemented in the Cantonment Board areas under the administrative supervision of the Ministry of Defence’s Defence Estates Organisation.
