New Chairman and Deputy Chairperson of Southern CII: Current Gk
For the years 2021-22, Suchitra Ella has been elected as the new Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Southern Region. Bharat Biotech International, based in Hyderabad, is co-founded by Suchitra. She is currently the company’s Joint Managing Director. She was previously the Chairperson of the CII-Andhra Pradesh. Deputy Chairperson is CK Ranganathan. CK Ranganathan, the CMD of Chennai-based Kevincare Pvt. Ltd., has worked at CII for over a decade in multiple roles. In Southern CII, Suchitra Ella and CK Ranganathan have been promoted to new roles with leadership qualities.

Interest Rate on PF is 8.5 Percent: Gk Current Affairs
The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will earn 8.5 percent interest in 2020-21, according to the Board of Trustees. Santosh Kumar Gangwar, the Union Labor Minister, has introduced a feature that allows workers to view online payments made on their behalf by their employers. For the financial year 2020-21, the EPFO board has proposed an interest rate of 8.5 percent, which is the same as in 2019-20. In addition, an online complaint system has been developed. The decision was made at the Central Board of Trustees’ 228th meeting in Srinagar. On the other hand, The EPFO offered its workers an interest rate of 8.55 percent for the 2017-18 financial year.

ODF Plus: General Knowledge Today
The Central Government has launched the ‘ODF Plus’ Swachhbharat-2 program across the country, which is based on eight factors such as ensuring that all villagers use toilets 100 percent of the time. Andhra Pradesh is the first in the country when it comes to keeping villages clean. After AP, Haryana came in second. In Haryana, 199 villages have been upgraded to ODF Plus standards. Following Haryana, 89 villages in Chhattisgarh and 22 villages in Telangana were found. By the end of March 2025, Swachh Bharat – 2 will made 6.03 lakh villages in the country fully sanitary. So far, 1,060 villages have been listed as completely clean villages across the country.

Bajrang Poonia wins gold at World Ranking Series: Current Gk 2021
Bajrang Poonia, an Indian star wrestler, has won gold at the World Ranking Series (WRS) Wrestling Tournament. On March 7, Bajrang won the men’s 65kg final in Rome, Italy, defeating Mongolian wrestler Tulga Tumar. Vishal (70 kg) from India was also awarded bronze. The WRS tournament was won by Vinesh Fogat, an Indian women’s star wrestler. On March 6, Vinesh won gold in the women’s freestyle 53kg final in Rome, defeating Diana Marie Helen Wecker (Canada). In the World Ranking series, Bajrang Poonia and Vinesh Fogat both won gold.
ITF Double Men’s Tournament Champions: Gk and Current Affairs
The men’s doubles title was won by Saket Maine and Yuki Bombay of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). On March 6, Saket-Yuki Bombay beat Kazha Vinayak Sharma-Vijay Sundar Prashant (India) in the final in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh’s capital. Saket Maine, an Andhra Pradesh tennis player and member of the Indian Davis Cup team, has won his 21st doubles title. In addition, the Indian pair of Soujanya and Pradhana Tombare finished second in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women’s Tournament in New Delhi.
