ABU – UNESCO Peace Media Awards 2021: Daily GK Current Affairs
On November 17th, a Doordarshan TV broadcast and an All India Radio radio show got many honors at the ABU – UNESCO Peace Media Awards-2021 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the category of ‘Ethical and Sustainable Relationship with Nature,’ All India Radio’s broadcast ‘Living on the Edge – The Coastal Lives’ earned an award. The Doordarshan show “DEA Finitely Leading the Way” earned an award in the area of “Living Well with Super-Diversity.” On November 17th, the prize presentation event took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The prizes were presented by UNESCO and the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union as part of the ‘Together for Peace’ project.
Gallantry Awards: Current Affairs 2021
On November 23rd, President Ram Nath Kovind presented Gallantry Awards during the third Defence Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. Colonel Santosh Babu was posthumously awarded the Mahavir Chakra for defending an observation station in the Galway valley in the Ladakh region during Operation Snow Leopard against a Chinese Army onslaught. Subedar Sanjiv Kumar of the 4 Para Special Forces was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra for an operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kieran area in which he killed one terrorist and injured two others. The highest honor, Vir Chakras were given to Naib Subedar Nuduram Soren, Havildar K. Palani, Naik Deepak Singh, and Sepoy Gurtej Singh for their valiant deeds against the Chinese Army’s offensive in the Galway valley during Operation Snow Leopard.

Dr. Jitendra Singh, India’s Science and Technology Minister, has opened India’s first Virtual Science Lab for Children as part of the CSIR Jigyasa Program, which will connect kids with scientists throughout the country. The fundamental goal of the Virtual Lab, according to Dr. Singh, is to provide excellent research exposure and creative teaching for school children through an online interactive medium. According to him, the new facility would assist children from Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and Government Schools and will aid in capturing them while they are still young. The target audience for the Virtual Lab platform, according to the Minister, is kids in grades 6 to 12 who want to learn about science via various activities.
