MoU with Flipkart: Today Current Affairs in English
By incorporating local companies and self-help groups (SHGs), particularly those run by women, into the e-commerce fold, the Ministry of Rural Development has inked an MoU with Flipkart. The relationship supports the objective of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM), which is to promote rural communities’ self-employment and entrepreneurial capacity. SHGs, according to Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Giriraj Singh, are the backbone of the rural economy, and the government aims to increase their yearly income to at least one lakh rupees.
