Defence Minister Rajnath Singh officially entered the Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile Air Defence System (MRSAM) into the Air Force in Jaisalmer Air Force Station, Rajasthan. It is a substantial boost to the country’s military infrastructure. The MRSAM is a network-centric combat air defense system developed by DRDO and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in collaboration with the Indian industry, which includes both commercial and public sectors, as well as micro, small, and medium businesses (MSMEs). The air defense system has a range of 70 kilometers and can intercept any aircraft, helicopters, or missiles flying overhead. Its Mach-2 speed will be critical in protecting India’s military establishment.

Strategic Clean Energy Partnership: Today Latest Current Affairs
On September 9th, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri co-chaired a virtual Ministerial meeting with US Secretary of Energy Ms. Jennifer Granholm to announce the relaunch of the US-India Strategic Clean Energy Partnership (SCEP). Power and Energy Efficiency, Responsible Oil and Gas, Renewable Energy, Sustainable Growth, and Emerging Fuels are the five pillars of cooperation that the SCEP organizes. The US Secretary of State welcomed India’s 450-gigawatt renewable energy target of 2030 and agreed to work closely with India to attain this objective. The two parties showed their common commitment to creating greener energy fuels with the addition of the fifth pillar in emerging fuels. There was also a new India-US biofuels task force to broaden the scope of biofuel partnership activity. This task force has already been announced.
