Biennial Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Award: Current Affairs 2021
At a special event in Guwahati on 03rd September, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu presented the Assam Government’s biennial Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Award for National Integration and National Contribution. The honorees are the Assam branch of the Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust, Dr. Nirod Kumar Barooah, an Assamese litterateur residing in Germany, and the Shillong Chamber Choir at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra. Each winner receives five lakh rupees, a citation, and an angavastram. The Vice President stated that Gopinath Bordoloi was a genuine statesman whose achievements should be emulated. Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Assam, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were also present.
