New Environment Minister: Daily Current Affairs Of July 2021
As Minister of State in the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey was appointed. Choubey will be the minister of state for consumer affairs, food, and public distribution in addition to the environment ministry. Choubey was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Health prior to the cabinet reshuffle. Ashwini is a member of the Lok Sabha from the Bihar parliamentary seat of Buxar. He has also served as the Vice-Chairman of Bihar’s Ministry of Health from November 2010 to June 2013. Choubey stated that increasing the forest cover would be his top focus. Lower Arun Hydropower Project: Latest In Current Affairs
The Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) and Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVNL) have signed an agreement for the building of the 679 MW Lower Arun Hydroelectric Project. SJVNL CMD Nand Lal Sharma and IBN Chief Executive Chairman Sushil Bhatta signed the agreement. The Arun Hydroelectric Project is located in the Nepalese districts of Sankhuwasabha and Bhojpur. Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister, and Vinay Mohan Kwatra, India’s Ambassador to Nepal, were in presence. The project will be fed by water from the 900 MW Arun-Teen Hydroelectric Plant, which is currently under development.
