India, US Reaffirm Commitment: Latest Current Affairs Today

India and the United States renewed their resolve to raise $100 billion yearly from public and private sources to support the development of the two nations’ climate change initiatives. On the 14th of October, under the leadership of India’s finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, the climate crisis was the first topic of discussion at a meeting of the India-US Economic and Financial Partnership. The first session of the conference was devoted to climate finance, according to a joint statement, “indicating our respective commitment to drive urgent progress in fighting climate change and the vital role of climate finance in accomplishing this shared global objective.” It was Nirmala Sitharaman’s first face-to-face encounter with Janet Yellen, a famous economist and former chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States.
