Exercise EUNAVFOR: Daily Current Affairs For UPSC Exams

On the 18th of June 2021, a two-day naval exercise between India and three European Union states began in the Gulf of Aden. The European Union’s anti-piracy campaign off the coast of Somalia is known as EUNAVFOR (European Union Naval Force Somalia). ‘EUNAVFOR,’ a combined naval exercise involving five warships from four navies, has begun. The goal of this exercise is to improve operational interoperability while also promoting peace, security, and stability in main waterways. The Indian Navy’s INS Trikand, a guided-missile frigate on a mission to combat piracy, is taking part in the exercise. The ITS Carabiniere (Italian Navy Ship), the ESPS Navarra (Spanish Navy Ship), and two French Navy Ships are also taking part.

Global Peace Index 2021: Important Current Affairs In English

The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) in Sydney has released the Global Peace Index for 2021. The index assigns a score to each of the 163 sovereign nations and territories based on their level of peace. Iceland continues to be the world’s most peaceful country, a title it has held since 2008. For the fourth year in a row, Afghanistan is the world’s least peaceful country, followed by Yemen. India has risen to the position of 135th most peaceful countries in the world and 5th in South Asia. Bangladesh is also the third most peaceful country in South Asia and the 91st in the world. New Zealand is in second place, followed by Denmark, Portugal, and Slovenia in third, fourth, and fifth place, respectively.

Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker: Top 10 Current Affairs

Morning Consult, an American data analytics organization, conducted a study of world leaders. The report is titled “Global Leader Approval Rating Tracker”. Prime Minister Narendra Modi topped the list of most popular persons in the study with a 66 percent approval rating. However, Modi has surpassed the presidents of 13 countries, including the US, UK, Russia, Australia, Canada, and Brazil. In the survey, only Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi was behind Modi. He has a 65 percent approval rating. Besides, With a 63 percent approval rating, Mexican President Lopez Obrador is in the third position. With 53% of the vote, US Vice President Joe Biden stands in sixth place. The results of the online survey were based on a weekly average, according to Morning Consult.

The Cable Television Networks Amendments, 2021, have been published by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The new guidelines establish a three-tiered complaint resolution process. Complaints about violations of the Advertising Code will be heard by the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI). However, the self-regulatory body must respond to the appeal within 60 days after receiving it.

Job Reservation For Hijras‌: Latest In Current Affairs

The Karnataka High Court says that the government must give Hijras one percent of government jobs. According to the Supreme Court order, preparations have been made to allow one percent of all government posts to Hijras, according to advocate Vijayakumar Patil, who is representing the state administration. He stated that after receiving objections to these notifications, a final decision would be made. Sangam Swayamsevak Sangh submitted a petition asking the government to provide Hijras reservation, which heard by a court chaired by Chief Justice of the High Court Justice. Section 9 of the Karnataka Civil Service Recruitment Act, 1977, has been changed to achieve this goal.

Flying Sikh Passed Away: Important Current Affairs For Today

Milkha Singh also known as the Flying Sikh, was an Indian runner. He was born in Govindpura, Punjab, Pakistan, on November 20, 1932. In 1951, Milkha Singh joined the Indian Army and placed sixth in an Army-run race. Later, he became an athlete and spent 9 years in Secunderabad training. He went on to win gold at the Commonwealth Games in 1958. He went on to win four gold medals at the Asian Games in Tokyo in 1958 and Jakarta in 1962. At the 1960 Rome Olympics, he finished fourth in the 400 meters. In 1959, the Indian government awarded the Padma Shri to him. Nirmal Kaur, Milkha Singh’s wife, died on June 14 after battling the coronavirus.

IDEMIA, the company that makes Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs), has decided to make India a global center for the production of embedded SIMs (e-SIMs). The company’s plants have the capacity to generate 30 billion e-SIMs each year. The Noida center has a 6 crore unit share. However, The company wants to turn this facility into a massive e-SIM production facility. India has one of the largest e-SIM manufacturing plants in the world. In India, Idemia is the only manufacturer. e-SIMs are now used by roughly ten lakh people in India. On Apple, Samsung, and Motorola cellphones, the technology is available. In the coming years, Idemia predicts that 30 percent of smartphones will use an e-SIM.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has partnered with MPL Sports Foundation as the primary sponsor of the Tokyo Olympic Games, Asian Games in 2022, and Commonwealth Games in 2024. MPL will pay Rs.8 crore, according to IOA President Narinder Batra and Secretary General Rajeev Mehta. MPL will also sponsor Indian participation at the Asian and Commonwealth Games in 2022.
