The Centre Plans Artificial Intelligence-backed Database | Latest January 2021 Current Affairs
The database, Modus Operandi Bureau (MOB), will have over 100 modus operandi or trademarks of criminals/accused persons involved in crimes. Under the management of the Union Home Ministry, the National Crime Records Bureau is creating the database. It will be available via the Crime and Offenders Monitoring Network Systems to all 16,000-odd police stations throughout the country. The Centre is creating a modus operandi database based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) used by numerous criminal groups or individuals to commit crimes to help police investigate those investigations more effectively and help them learn about the new tactics adopted by offenders.
