Kerala Iron Lady Passed Away: Today Current Affairs
Kerala Iron Lady in Politics Gauri passed away. She was the only woman minister in Kerala’s first cabinet, which was established in 1957 under the leadership of then-Communist leader EMS Namboodiripad. Ms. Gauri was born on the 14th of July, 1919. She was elected as a minister after winning elections in Travancore-Cochin in 1952 and 1954. She take over as Minister of Revenue and stayed in the eye of the public as she implemented land reforms. Gauri Amma later moved to Aroor in 1967 and was elected to the Aroor Legislative Assembly eight times until 2006.
