On July 28, Rakesh Asthana, a Gujarat cadre member, was appointed as the Delhi Police Commissioner. Rakesh Asthana was born in Ranchi, the undivided state of Bihar’s capital. Astana, a 1984 IPS graduate, has held positions as Special Director of the CBI and Director General of the BSF. Asthana now serves as the Director-General of the BSF. He will succeed Balaji Srivastava, the current police commissioner.
